Burgess Hall

Burgess Hall (and other buildings) occupied the west side of the Market Square in the fourteenth century, and were used for many purposes by the inhabitants, particularly by the Market traders when markets were held as often as four times a week.

The buildings were demolished in the early seventeenth century to widen the roadway to accommodate the increase of traffic passing through the Borough to Leicester and London.
